Reselling engagment rings

This is about yet another article I found on CNN. Its about a man who was engaged to be married and for some reason it just didn't work out. So he tried to sell his ring back to the jeweler and they would only give him 32% back. He then created the internet auction site called "I do....no i don't". If anything, I think its a pretty clever title. Surprisingly, there are may in the same predicament. I dont know about you guys, but I'd feel a little weird buying a failed, used engagement ring.

I do agree that it may feel weird buying a used engagement ring, but if you buy it as a general ring, I don't see a problem. I guess it's just a moral issue that people need to deal with. If they can't, then they don't have to buy the ring, and instead buy it overpriced at a jeweler.

It may feel weird to you buying a used engagement ring, and hell it would be really weird for me too, but I think that this site will give those who could not go to the Jewler and buy a nice engagement ring before a new opportunity to impress their loved one. What happened to what they did in the movies...Throw the ring in the ocean!!

Jeff, you can throw your rings in the ocean, i think p2p auctions are the way to go. coming from a family of jewelers, i know that they charge absurd amounts, but its supply and demand at work. maybe this site will help some poor shmo.

Haha, that is a clever idea... a mini ebay only for used/failed engagement rings! It would definetly be a great idea for people who can't afford a ring from a store, but as everybody else has said, kinda weird as well. If somebody was smart they would create a website like that for all our textbooks so we could stop getting ripped off by the damn bookstore!!!

I couldn't find the website you mentioned, but I feel that would be weird. Your discounting a symbol of love, and despite how superficial and over valued that symbol may be; I think the idea that you would try to get it for less money and spend less, I dunno, that's weird.
